So we have a situation where a lot of hue and cry has been raised on the famous residence in bani gala belonging (now solely to Mr. Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi) and has been since 2004. Let’s try and simplify things to really lay it out for everyone’s heart and desire to get rid of any ambiguity that may still persist despite the numerous clarifications already provided.
Year Details
2002 Jemima khan buys a property with her own monies in her own name.
2003 Imran Khan sells his flat in London
2004 Imran khan pays Jemima for the property she purchased in 2002 and has the property transferred in his name. They also get divorced in the same year.
As Imran Khan clearly articulated http://youtu.be/ItdX5SbAwUo?t=33m08s and explained in great detail – there is nothing benami in a transaction which has a named owner whose source of funds and rightful ownership can be shown without any doubt in both cases. Mr. Khan clearly did not have funds or the means to buy the property in 2002, he waited for his sale of property in 2003 in London. He then transferred these monies through legitimate and official bank transfer and in 2004 he paid Jemima khan and had the properties transferred over to his name.
As a party supporter, I welcome constructive criticism but the report that spreads confusion among people can never be appreciated. Leaders should be judged by their actions, services, credibility, honesty, and principles and Imran Khan has shown and proven all of these characteristics. He does not have any stain of corruption on his character. His increased popularity and people’s confidence in him cannot be undermined by such reports. We need to first understand the term benami and then try and use it correctly where it actually applies and not in a situation where ownership is already accepted and rightfully owned.
