Code of Conduct for PTI UK Elections 2013

The code of conduct for the PTI UK intraparty 2013 elections is hereby being communicated to all PTI UK members in general and membership coordinators in particular.
All concerned are asked to read it thoroughly and strictly abide by it. Any individuals or collective act against the code of conduct below will result in immediate disqualification from the election process.
The Office of International Chapters (OIC) will implement this code of conduct strictly to its letter and spirit.

  1. No public meetings/gatherings to make new members will be held after the membership cut-off date has been passed. Public contact should only be initiated during the allocated campaign time.
  2. No meetings will be held in which contradicting election processes are announced and communicated to mislead the members.
  3. There shall be no self-announced bodies, councils, committees etc. It should be clear that elections will be arranged and communicated via the Office of International Chapters ONLY.
  4. Strictly No mass email chains should be sent to members in the disguise of press releases, newsletters etc. Members should only be contacted during the allocated campaign time.
  5. Strictly No mass/chain emails should be initiated, propagated and sent to members, membership coordinators or to copy leadership in Pakistan regarding any election or non election topics/issues. Any issues with the election process should be strictly communicated to the Office of International Chapters and the PTI UK Election Commission only.
  6. Any individual found to be initiating or sending mass email chains will be strictly reprimanded and disciplinary procedures will immediately take place against them. Anyone found in breach of the above will be disqualified from the election process.
  7. All paying members should be directed to insaf.pk for the latest election updates. Election related news will be published online at insaf.pk.
  8. All membership coordinators are expected to strictly adhere to the deadlines provided for membership cut-off, submitting membership lists, candidate nominations etc. If a membership coordinator fails to meet a deadline, no allowance will be extended.
  9. Failure to submit the membership lists by the membership coordinators to the Office of International Chapters will lead to the exclusion of the membership coordinator from the voter’s lists.
  10. All election candidates, membership coordinators and members in the electoral process should not indulge in corrupt activities, such as vote-buying, as well as coercive behaviours, including threats and acts of violence. Any complaints with proofs of the same will be strictly dealt with.
  11. No person shall use any of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s publications (official party newsletters, blogs, forums) or mailing facilities (such as the insaf.pk e-mail address) to advance a candidature.
  12. No financial inducement or inducement in kind may be offered to attempt to secure support.
  13. No personal account should be used for any fund raising and membership activities. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification from the election process and suspension from the party membership.
  14. No official social media platform like PTI UK Official FB page and Twitter account should be utilised or propagated for self projection. Any Official PTI UK or Regional social media accounts should not be used for propagation of any individual or a group during the election period.
  15. Prospective elections candidates are required to strictly adapt and maintain the highest moral principles in keeping with democratic ethics during the campaign, the elections, and afterwards.
  16. Personal attacks, maligning tactics, abuse will be strictly dealt with. Any individual found guilty of the above will be disqualified.  No action should bring disrepute to the party or any of its leadership.
  17. No PTI members and candidates should give press statements.
  18. No official statement on behalf of the party should be published or stated without OIC authorisation.
  19. No press releases, events, membership drives will be published on insaf.pk until after the oath ceremony of the elected body.
  20. No TV interviews should be done without OIC authorisation.
  21. No business cards should be made with the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaaf or any logo of the party.
  22. Any attempt to supply false information to the PTI UK Finance board for any purpose connected with the paying members lists will immediately lead to the disqualification of the person who supplied the membership list.
  23. The PTI leadership from Pakistan will not be invited to election related events during campaign time. The organizers will be solely held responsible if any central, regional or provincial leadership from Pakistan is invited in election related events.
  24. The Office of International Chapters should be contacted in case any guidance or permission for any exception to the above process is required.
Disciplinary Process

1.  Any investigation of the Electoral Code will be carried out by the Office of International Chapters (OIC) in consultation with the Office of the Secretary General and PTI UK Election Commission.
2.   It is the right and duty of all UK members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  to ensure that this code is observed, in its spirit as well as letter, and where appropriate to bring to the attention of the Office of International Secretary any behaviour which they consider to be contrary to the Code.
3.      Any member breaching this code of conduct or knowingly allowing others to do so on their behalf will lead to immediate disqualification from the election process.
4.      Appeal against any disciplinary action taken by the Office of International Chapters should be directed to the Office of the Secretary General.
